Insight into the 75-day hard challenge
A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Your body is just a medium and your mind is the universe. Don’t take your body for granted, and don’t be harsh on it. You know your body has huge potential to accomplish anything; still, it is your responsibility to take care of your body.
Social media is a platform that guarantees people the ability to transform their lives with new experiments. There are many such challenges you might have come across until the 75 day hard challenge surfaced online and gained huge popularity. It all started with Andy Frisella in 2019, who was the CEO of First Phorm, a supplement company and author of “75-Day: A Tactical Guide to Winning the War with Yourself.” The 75 day hard challenge was widely spread through TikTok and invaded the internet in a short time. The main motive imposed by this challenge was to bring forth your eagerness to come out of your comfort zone and to create mental toughness to discipline you and make you more confident by doing certain defined tasks daily without any excuse. It is believed that doing the activities for 75 days continuously can make a person have a stronger personality and better health, both physically and mentally.
The 75 day hard challenge targets those people who procrastinate and who can’t do their work within the deadline. It promises to build a new individual by incorporating new habits. It is called 75 hard because once you start doing 75 hard, you have to finish the entire chore without complaining for 75 days straight. You may wonder where the difficulty is. Anyone can do this challenge. No. If you fail to do the challenge after a few days, say 10 days, you cannot resume the challenge; instead, you have to restart the challenge.
75-day rules comprise the following things:
1. Two separate 45-minute sessions of exercises: indoor and outdoor
2. Drink a gallon of water (approximately 4 liters)
3. Choose a specific diet and stick to it; no alcohol
4. 10 pages of non-fictional books daily; no audiobooks will be counted
5. Take a picture of your progress daily
The strictness of the 75-day rules seems so motivational that millions of people have lost their wits to embark on a new lifestyle. Only some of them completed the challenge. Many people shared 75 hard challenge before and after pictures of their transformed bodies. A few of those were inspiring, while others were horrific. Nevertheless, they claimed themselves fit. Otherwise, most of them suffered in the middle of the challenge. 75 hard challenge results in loss of appetite, fatigue, weakness, nausea, an imbalance in electrolytes, water poisoning, and stomach upset. But why such diverse results?
This 75 hard is not scientifically proven to be appropriate for everyone to do. Even if the weather is not suitable or you feel unwell, you have to push yourself to complete the 75 hard workout plan. For beginners, working out for 1.5 hours is never advisable. Besides, an individual should take a rest once a week to regain flexibility in the muscles.
75 hard diet may lead to boredom in taste, and its severity can be due to nutrient deficiency if followed for a longer time. Also, with an intense workout, a diet with insufficient nutritious foods can affect a person if they do not consult a dietitian or nutritionist before selecting the diet.
Reading, of course, a best habit, is encouraged. It is good to find a muse in self-help books; but doesn’t all of us sometimes want to taste romance, adventure, horror, magic, thrillers, travelogues, etc. with a storyline through books? Furthermore, many times, listening to audiobooks can be knowledgeable and inspiring.
The most irrational task among these is drinking a gallon of water. It is essential to hydrate your body, but a specific amount cannot be assigned to everybody without knowing their body shape, gender, or climatic condition. The amount of water required varies from person to person.
To substitute 75 hard, 75 soft challenge and 75 medium challenge emerged as alternatives to keeping a rhythm for 75 days. 75 soft rules include:
1. 45 minutes of any physical activity (cycling, walking, running, swimming, cardio, yoga, dance) and one day of active rest in a week (doing low-intensity exercises)
2. Choose the diet of your choice, and occasional booze up-to sober
3. Drink 3 liters of water
4. Read 10 pages of any book
I want to take you deeper into this. All of us are leading a life; some might think it is healthy, and others consider it unhealthy. We are right. Many of us do workout, eat nutritious food, do cheat diets sometimes, read books, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, drink adequate amounts of water, and have other hobbies. Isn’t it a healthy lifestyle? Of course, it is.
Whether it is 75 soft or 75 hard, you can make your own routine that suits your body to keep you fit. Instead of challenging yourself for 75 days, why don’t you promise yourself to do a workout, perhaps not the 75 hard workout plan; inculcate new hobbies, explore the world, and explore your inner self every day till you feel content? Indeed, we cannot do all the chores equally every day. Sometimes we should give a break to our body and mind to rejuvenate it. At the end of the day, we want to be happily fit and healthy. It’s your body, so it’s your decision.
